 SAFE LIFTING OPERATIONS
BEGIN WITH A SAFE LIFTER, A SAFE LOAD AND SAFE OPERATOR

DO'S

  • DO read ASME B30.20 Standard for Below the Hook Lifting Devices and check with ASME for any further revisions.
  • DO inspect lifter before each use. Check moving lifter parts and operation controls for proper operation at the start of each shift.
  • DO make sure load clears objects when moving load.
  • DO avoid shock loads from sudden starts and stops
  • DO make certain load is balanced and stable.
  • DO make sure that all persons stay clear of the suspended load.
  • DO store lifter properly after use. Make sure lifter is stable when stored.
  • DO take instructions only from your designated person.
  • DO warn personnel of an approaching load.
  • DO promptly report any malfunction, unusual performance, or damage of the unit.
  • DO avoid swinging of the load or lifter.

DONT'S

  • DO NOT exceed rated load of lifter and crane.
  • DO NOT use damaged or malfunctioning lifter or one that is tagged " Out of Service".
  • DO NOT lift people or carry loads over people.
  • DO NOT alter or modify unit without approval from manufacturer.
  • DO NOT use lifter unless specifically trained to do so.
  • DO NOT leave a suspended load unattended.
  • DO NOT remove tags, labels or other marking placed on unit by manufacturer.
  • DO NOT allow your attention to be diverted from operating lifter and hoist.
  • DO NOT lift unbalanced or unstable load.
  • DO NOT lift loads at elevated temperatures unless the lifter is specifically designed for this purpose.
  • DO NOT lift a load any higher then necessary.
